Problem: The battery life is too short - the battery runs out quickly! This is a new phone, too!

Solution 1:
Different phones have wildly different battery needs. Generally speaking, the bigger the screen and the more functions in use (e.g. bluetooth, wifi, gps etc), the faster your battery will run down. Google "Typical Battery life" for your phone and see what other people are getting. If you are getting much (more than about 40%) worse battery life and you have turned off all unnecessary applications, functions and services, your phone may have other issues and you should contact the manufacturer / your retailer to investigate further. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.

Have you checked how much storage space you have left? You might need to move some photos off your phone and onto your computer. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.
Solution 1:
Obvious solution first - have you checked all of the different volume settings? Some phones have more than one volume setting and you might have to check the instructions to see if there are any other volume settings. If this is not the case, have you caused any damage to the speaker, by dropping the phone or inserting anything into the speaker? Check for signs of damage.
Also check the phone isn't in a silent mode or a do not disturb profile. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.
Problem: How do I improve battery life? It's not very good at the moment.

Solution 1:
Try to shut down applications and functions when you're not using them. Charge the battery to full, don't remove it before it's fully charged and try not to leave it plugged in for too long after it has reached 100%.
The screen is a massive user of battery life, so turning down the brightness setting will make a big difference. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.
Solution 1:
Check for a new software / firmware update for your phone. You might even have to do a factory reset if this doesn't work, but that is an absolute last resort. 0 out of 0 people found this solution helpful.
- Turn of smart backlight in display settings. Make sure a to brightness turned off

Problem: The power button on my Huawei Ascend P2 has stopped working. I have tried pressing it different ways, ie, by rocking it or pressing it heavily or softly to know effect. The only way to start the phone at present is by plugging in the charger.
- This may sound rather stupid, but trying using your teeth, this is the only way I can get my P2 to turn on without a charger.

- I have the same problem and with a few months to run on my contract I am using the workaround of carrying one of those portable powerbanks which I can use to bring it to life (just as you describe doing with the charger). The powerbank was only £10 from the supermarket and is not much bigger than a pen so easy to carry around.

I have the same problem. It's only a short term solution but you can unlock the phone by double tapping the camera button and then pressing the home button. II 0 out of 1 person found this solution helpful.
Problem: Phone and message icons disappeared from home screen. Tried restart, forcible reboot and clearing cache - none of which have worked! Is there anything else I can try before trying factory reset?

Problem: apps crash; was only dragons world but now Gmail and yahoo mail are starting to crash, and the browser. The phone gets very hot when this happens, any ideas? I've put it on optimum to use all cores of the CPU....the P1 doesn't crash like this is it just P2s with problems?

Problem: My Huawei Ascent P2 is having some sound problems, as just earlier I was listening to music and it suddenly stopped playing... It works with headphones in and fine with phone calls, but won't play music out loud or don't hear it switch on the volume is in full but don't hear anything unless the headphones are plugged in.
Even if your phone was advertised as being *free* on a contract, you are paying for it through your monthly payments and you have the same rights that you would had you bought any other electronic item - i.e. at least a year under the Sale of Goods Act.
You do not have to take what you are offered. Don't feel pressured into taking a phone you know nothing about. Check reviews online before you buy a new phone.
Make sure you understand how much you use your phone before you sign up to a new contract. If you only use 250 minutes a month, a 1,000 minute a month contract isn't going to be any good for you. Work out how much you need and look at plans around that amount.
