I dropped my phone in water and now it's off. What do I do?

(Click on a problem to comment or help)I received a voicemail from tesco to say as a new customer I needed to enter a pin of at least 8 numbers. I am not a new customer as such. Now my phone will not budge from a message telling me to enter my PUK code. I do not even know what a PUK code is. I cannot get onto the menu or make a call.
My nokia 301 for some reason now shows the USB icon when I plug it in to the charger and I have to cancel the menu that comes up. This has only just appeared recently. Also I do not get the "battery full" indication any more. Anyone got any solution to this??

i have started my phone 1 time and after it didnt start again and also not responding on the pc
I have a Nokia 301 which after 7 months has started playing up. Whether it is switched on or off, it intermittently starts vibrating and the only way to stop it is to open the back and take out the battery. Sometimes it is necessary to do this 2 or 3 times in succession to stop the problem.It is on Tesco Mobile and they have suggested doing a full Factory Reset. Done that and the problem is still there but only happens every couple of weeks or so, usually when a call is incoming. Any ideas.
I have a Nokia 301 mobile phone. The backlight on the screen has suddenly started randomly started illuminating, staying on for about 20 seconds then going off for about 10 seconds, then repeating, which is draining the battery. Any ideas what is causing this.

When I switch my phone off it will not start again unless the battery is taken out and wait 15 minutes. To restart, have to hold in the on/ off switch at the same time as putting battery in. Any ideas of a fix greatly appreciated.

Solution 1: Cut the power. Do this now. Don't turn it on.
In an ideal world, you would remove the battery to make sure there is no power going through the phone. The two main types of damage you are likely to do to your phone if it's been exposed to water are:
(1) Short circuit - power running though the phone could short circuit the electrical components inside. Cut the power immediately to minimise this risk.
(2) Corrosion - the internals of the phone are not designed to come into contact with water and are likely to corrode more quickly. But there's not a lot you can do about this.
Best advice, remove the power and leave it a good, long time (days and days, not hours and hours) before you turn the phone on. If you are lucky and you cut the power in time, you might get away with it. Pour away any water you can that's trapped inside, then give the rest of the water enough time to evaporate away.

Solution 1: Do a hard reset. Hold the power button down for ten seconds or so, or Google how to do a hard reset.
